In short: Mentor AI reads what you ask it to: your questions, your voice, and, only when you
click a button that reads your screen, a single captured image of the tab you chose to share at that moment.
We don't record continuously, we don't sell your data, and you can ask us to delete your account and data at
any time.
1. Who we are
Mentor AI is built by Odin ("Odin," "we," "us," "our"). This policy explains what information we collect when
you use the Mentor AI browser extension, web app, and related services (collectively, the "Service"), how we
use it, and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
Account information
- Email address and password (stored as a secure hash; we never store your plain-text password)
- Subscription tier and, when paid plans are offered, billing status
- Workspace membership, such as which shared workspace you have joined with an invite code
Content you send us
- Text questions you type or dictate to Mentor AI
- Screen captures: a single still image of the tab you choose to share, captured only when you
click a button that reads your screen ("Read my screen", "Check my step", or "Capture step" while recording a
playbook). We do not continuously record or stream your screen. Screen images sent with "Read my screen" or
"Check my step" are passed to our AI provider to produce a response and are not stored by us; only the text
of the response is kept.
- Voice input, when you use the microphone feature. Speech is converted to text by your
browser's built-in speech recognition. In Chrome, this sends your audio to Google's speech service, under
Google's own privacy policy. Mentor AI receives only the resulting text; we do not receive or store audio.
Playbooks
Playbooks are guided, step-by-step procedures. If you record one, we store what you create: the playbook's
name, each step's title and instruction, and the screenshot you capture for each step. You can black out
sensitive areas of a screenshot before saving it; the black boxes are applied in your browser, so we never
receive the unredacted image. You are responsible for making sure screenshots you record do not contain
information you are not allowed to share.
A published playbook can be seen by the members of its workspace. People join a workspace with an invite code
created by the workspace owner. If you follow a playbook, we store your progress (which playbook and version,
which step you are on, and whether each step was confirmed by an AI check or marked done by you).
Conversation history
We store your conversations with Mentor AI, including a text description of anything read from your screen,
so the assistant can refer back to earlier context in the same session. This is stored securely and tied to
your account.
Usage and technical data
- Session timestamps and duration, used to enforce plan limits
- Counts of screen reads and playbook checks, used to enforce plan limits
- Device type and basic technical metadata (browser version, operating system)
- Error logs, used only to diagnose and fix problems
- Activity records for account and workspace actions (for example, publishing a playbook or creating an
invite code), used for security and accountability
3. What we don't collect
- We do not continuously monitor or record your screen in the background
- We do not capture your screen unless you click a button that does so. While you are recording or
following a playbook, Chrome shows that a tab is being shared until you stop sharing, but we only capture
an image when you click
- We do not access your microphone unless you click the microphone button, and we do not use your camera
- We do not sell your personal data to third parties, ever
4. How we use your information
We use your information only to provide and improve the features described in this policy. We do not use it
for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending.

5. Third parties we work with
To provide the Service, your content is processed by:
- AI providers (such as Google Gemini, and others we may route requests to), to generate
responses to your questions and screen captures and to check playbook steps. We send them only what is needed
for the request. Each provider handles that content under its own terms and privacy policy.
- Your browser vendor, for voice input as described above (in Chrome, Google's speech
service).
- Infrastructure providers, for hosting, DNS, and content delivery.
- Payment processors, when paid plans are offered, to handle subscription billing. We
never see or store your full card details.
We do not permit our providers to use your data for any purpose other than delivering the Service to you.
6. Data retention
- Conversation history is retained while your account is active, so Mentor AI can refer back to it.
- Playbooks, their screenshots, and your progress are retained until they are deleted. Archiving a playbook
hides it; email us if you want it permanently deleted.
- You may ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time. We will remove it from our active
systems within 30 days.
- Billing records, if any, are retained as required by law, even after account deletion.
7. Your rights and choices
- Access & export: you can request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correction: you can ask us to correct your account information.
- Deletion: you can ask us to delete your account and associated data, including any
playbooks and screenshots you created, by contacting us.
- Screen reading is opt-in: it only happens when you click a button that does it, and you
choose which tab to share each time. You can stop sharing at any time with Chrome's "Stop sharing" control.
8. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do
not knowingly collect data from children. If we learn we've collected data from a child without appropriate
consent, we will delete it.
9. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access
controls on our infrastructure, to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, and we encourage you to
use a strong, unique password for your account.
10. International users
Our servers and service providers may be located in different countries than you are. By using the Service,
you consent to your information being processed in those locations.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you via email or an
in-app notice before the changes take effect.
